Snow Leopard Trust logo CENTRAL ASIA - The Snow Leopard Trust, founded in 1981, is a non-profit organization based in Seattle, United States. The Trust's mission is to protect the snow leopard and its mountain ecosystem through a balanced approach that addresses the needs of the local people and the environment. From the local village level up to national government policies, the Trust strives to inform and empower people living in snow leopard habitat so that they can improve their lives while becoming better stewards of their environment. Both nationally and internationally, the Trust conducts rigorous scientific research, educational outreach, advocacy, and community-based conservation programs.

Snow leopards are a flagship species in the mountains of 12 nations in Central Asia, from Afghanistan in the west to Bhutan in the east.
