For the conservation project to work, it is imperative to educate and raise awareness in the local communities. There is a current deficit in knowledge, and local inhabitants are unaware that their surrounding rainforest is a unique and threatened habitat. As a result, REGUA has devised and implemented several education programmes including an environmental education curriculum for the local schools, a Young Rangers Programme, and a teacher capacitation course.
